The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery plays a vital role in supporting the Surgical Oncology team, especially in Head and Neck cancers, Breast cancers, Skin cancers, and Soft Tissue tumours of the limbs, abdomen, and chest wall.
The department has performed the highest number of microvascular reconstructions in Chhattisgarh over the last 7 years. It maintains an impressive success rate of over 99%, with a very low rate of re-exploration. It also leads the region in breast reconstruction surgeries, offering excellent aesthetic results. The department uses advanced equipment like the Leica Provido Operating Microscope with integrated ICG counter, which helps in performing complex microsurgeries and super-microsurgeries with precision.
Recently, the department has expanded beyond oncological reconstructions to include a wide range of plastic and aesthetic procedures such as:
• Scar management
• Skin tag and mole removal
• Hair loss treatment (medical and surgical)
• Rhinoplasty (for cosmetic and functional reasons)
• Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and liposuction
• Breast augmentation and reduction
• Fat grafting
• Non-surgical aesthetic treatments like Botox and fillers
• Burn care (OPD basis)
• Hand surgeries (claw hand, trigger finger, tendon repairs, etc.)
To support these services, the department is equipped with modern tools like:
• Liposuction machine
• Radiofrequency ablation system
• Microneedling devices
• Centrifuge units for PRP and fat grafting
With this growth, the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at BALCO Medical Centre is now offering comprehensive surgical and aesthetic care to both cancer and non-cancer patients.
